Mockingbird Station
Dallas, Texas
Mass-Transit Project Becomes a Massive Success
In 1999, UCR Urban was asked to share Dallas developer, Ken Hughes', vision for a high traffic intersection on two major arteries, just five miles north of downtown Dallas. Incredibly, Mockingbird Station, one of the nation's first new urban, transit-oriented, mixed-use developments was born.
UCR Urban advised the developer on the proper tenant mix and necessary GLA to attract targeted retailers, and brought Dallas' first Urban Outfitters, Reading Entertainment's Angelika Theatre and Virgin Records to Mockingbird Station.
In 2006, backfilling the former Virgin Records space, UCR Urban secured the West Elm deal and their entry into the DFW market.
In 2006, The Urban Land Institute awarded Mockingbird Station the ULI Awards for Excellence - the land-use industry's most prestigious recognition program.
